Ashley N. Browning

Executive Director

When I accepted the role of Executive Director at Fresh Start, it felt less like stepping into a new position and more like returning to my roots.

My journey began over 15 years ago, working alongside women in recovery. Since then, I’ve committed my life’s work to creating safe, supportive spaces where healing is possible and wholeness is the goal. With a Master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling and certifications in Nonprofit Administration and Chemical Dependency, I bring both clinical knowledge and organizational leadership to this work. But beyond credentials, I bring lived experience, empathy, and a deep understanding of what it takes to truly start over.

At Fresh Start, we serve individuals and families—many of whom are in recovery or transitioning from instability. Our sober living and transitional housing program is built on a phased, holistic model that goes far beyond shelter. Residents receive structure, accountability, personalized case planning, life skills development, and—most importantly—a community that believes in them.

This work is deeply personal, and I’m constantly reminded that transformation is possible when people are met with compassion and consistency. I’ve seen people be loved back to life. I’ve watched residents rise from some of the lowest points of their lives and reclaim their power, stability, and voice. But none of this is possible alone. I’m incredibly grateful for the passionate, dedicated team that walks alongside me—staff, volunteers, and community partners alike—who make this mission a reality every single day. It is my honor to lead Fresh Start Frankfort with purpose, vision, and an unwavering belief in the power of new beginnings.
